Availability

This course is available open to all visiting students but only as a second semester course.

 

Course content

The course will introduce students to medicinal plants and their secondary metabolites as potential therapeutic agents.  It will develop students’ awareness of the diversity of the active constituents in relation to their chemical structures, nature and sources. This will enable them to appreciate the pharmaceutical importance of the active constituents of official drugs and their local substitutes.

 

Teaching

One-hour lecture, twice a week.

 

 

Formative coursework

There will be a practical Interim Assessment, Lab Report and End of Semester Practical Exams.
