Availability

This course is available open to all visiting students but only as a second semester course.

Course Content

Historical Geology focuses on geological events that have occurred and resulted in the evolution of the Earth. It reveals to the students the fundamental truths concerning the evolution of the Earth and its inhabitants (plants and animals). Students, at the end of the period gain introductory knowledge about all geological events/occurrences and their respective geologic ages. By the end of the course the students appreciate the principles and techniques of geology and use them to reconstruct and understand the geological history.

Teaching

 The course will be delivered through:

i.             Lectures - PowerPoint Presentations. Lectures will cover information and concepts from the    text.

ii.           Class Discussions and Reading Assignments  

iii.          Presentations

Formative Coursework

There will be Interim Assessment, Presentations and End of Semester Examination. Success in this course depends on reading widely on the topics to be treated, and is highly recommended.
