The University hosts a number of partner institutions to experience group study abroad during our inter-semester breaks (December - January / June – July) to:

  • study for academic credit
  • conduct research and/or
  • undertake experiential learning programmes.

Every year, groups of students from partner institutions abroad, often accompanied by a chaprone//faculty member from their home university, participate in this Spring/Summer programmes.

Which courses can we take?
Groups usually have pre-arranged programmes including courses and field trips. Faculty at the University of Ghana may be engaged to teach desired courses upon request. The International Programmes Office is available to facilitate this.

How much do we pay?

The programme fee for the Duration is determined by the partner institution. However the fees below apply.

Affiliation Fees for Inter-Semester Programmes

The University of Ghana charges fees based on the number of students participating in the programme. Below are the rates:

1– 15 students: USD 2,500.00 per group
15+ students: USD 3,000.00 per group

Affiliation Fees Entitle You To:

  • The right to operate under the aegis of the University of Ghana and to use the name of the University.
  • Airport pickup and drop-off
  • Orientation Programme
  • Campus Tour
  • Access to academic facilities (i.e. lecture halls, libraries and internet services)

*Remember to notify the International Programmes Office about your schedule to enable us arrange for classroom space for you.

Where will we stay?

International Students Hostel - Students only

1 per room USD18.00 per day
2 per room USD 15.00 per day

University Guest Centre - Recommended for faculty and administrators

1 per room USD 60 per day
2 per room USD 70 dollars per day

How do we pay?

Fees paid by wire transfer or cheque should be paid before arrival. Kindly pay into the University of Ghana Foreign Account:

*Payment of fees after arrival should be made in cash only

Transportation?
Mini-bus rental rates vary widely. Currently daily rates within Accra range fromUSD 100-150 and if you travel outside Accra, USD 200-250.
You may be required to pay an additional amount for fuel.

Meals?
We encourage visiting institutions to make their own mealtime arrangements. Restaurants and eateries on campus provide both Ghanaian and continental cuisine.
