STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS WITH PARTNERS

The International Programmes Office was established in 1997 to co-ordinate and promotes all of the university's external relations with regards to international students, visiting scholars, external staff training programmes and research collaboration. The office offers a variety of services to international students and scholars from reception and orientation programmes to volunteer opportunities. We also provide University of Ghana students with opportunities to study abroad. 

The University of Ghana seeks to engage with institutions in Africa and across the globe to build strategic, equitable and sustainable partnerships that would attract a more diverse student body and promote staff and student mobility as well as enhance our capacity for cutting-edge research, teaching and learning. 

Over the years, University of Ghana has thrived globally through it international network with partners.  Our objective is to engage with institutions with Africa and the globe to build Strategic partnerships that provide institutions with a wider pool of resources, knowledge and experience. Along with research opportunities and cross cultural awareness, partnerships including study abroad programmes and staff exchanges provide opportunities for students and staff to grow intellectually. It is in this light that the University of Ghana, riding on the back of its strong brand, considers partnerships as the heart of its internationalisation strategy.

Every year, IPO receives International visitors/delegations including UG’s global partners. These visits lead to meetings with the Dean of International Programme Office and other officials of the University, thereby strengthening the institutional relationship, to promote teaching, learning and research.  

During the 2021/2022 academic year, the International Programmes Office received over 50 number of delegations comprising representatives of partner institutions such as;  Institute for Medical and Nursing Education (IMNE) California, USA, California State University, University of Calgary, Bucknell University, University College Zealand, Denmark, university of Nottingham, Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, St. Cloud State University, Washinton University, Northern Kenturky University, Stockholm University, Sweden Hambat National University and many others. 

These important visits results in initiating partnership agreement to promote collaborative teaching and learning, research and capacity building. 

For similar reasons, several UG administrative staff, students and faculty of the University of Ghana visited UG’s international partners across the world including partners in Europe, United Kingdom, Asia, Africa and North America. 

IPO looks forward to strengthening UG’s global engagement through stronger and robust partnerships with the rest of the world.
