This course is available open to all visiting students but only as a second semester course.

Course Content

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the Francophone African Literature with a focus on the early 20th Century through Poetry and Drama. Students will learn who were the “first” African writers in French, how they developed the Negritude. They will also learn to identify the specificities of their work by analyzing some texts.

Teaching

Classes will be a combination of lectures, discussions and/or group presentations.           

Formative Coursework

Students should be prepared to participate in class discussions, interim assessment, and undertake a final exam project.
