This course is available open to all visiting students but only as a second semester course.
Course Content
This course is a continuation of ARAB 305. The course further introduces students to
advanced translation exercises. Students are engaged in series of translation exercises dealing
with more complex sentence structures with special emphasis on key translation rules, methods and strategies.
Teaching
Wednesdays, 05:25pm – 07:30pm
The Course is taught in the form of lectures and class discussions. There would be 5 weeks of reading and analysis and the remaining 8 weeks for practices and exercises to provide students with regular, guided practices in translating different types of specialized texts. The student is, in addition, required to watch Arab news, and documentary programs at the Multimedia room to enhance the students’ cultural awareness.
Formative Coursework
Student’s general performance is assessed through class debates, group presentations, written assignment, class tests and final end-of Semester Examination
